You’ll learn about the entire process of green wood spoon carving, from log to finished spoon, and how to safely use hook and straight knives to create this amazing transformation. All materials and tools will be provided for this beginner friendly class. A handcarved cooking spoon can make a wonderful gift or provide the perfect rustic charm to your own kitchen.

Guest Teaching Artist:
Emilie Rigby has been carving green wood and making spoons for 8 years and has traveled across the country teaching woodworking and outdoor skills. She landed in Portland, OR in 2017 and ran a teaching wood shop for a prominent outdoor skills company. Across six years of teaching experience, she has taught people aged 8 to 80 how to carve spoons and her classes are full of useful tips and tricks, metaphors for life, and terrible (amazing) puns. She is a self-professed “crazy spoon lady” because she has made thousands of wooden spoons.
