Pyrography Wood Burning Workshop

Sign up for one of our upcoming sessions:

Saturday, May 25, 2019 3:00-5:00pm

Wednesday, June 19, 2019 6:30-8:30pm

Class fee: $49

In this workshop you'll craft a custom wood cutting board using the art of pyrography-- don’t worry, it’s nothing illegal! You’ll learn the basic techniques of decorative wood burning, which, although dating back centuries, can be expressed with fun, contemporary designs. Using a pen-like burning tool, you’ll work on small wood pieces to practice the basic technique. Next you’ll move on to your masterpiece, etching a custom design (templates provided) onto a 13.5”x7.5” premium wood board that you can use for general food chopping or serving. All supplies and equipment provided.

(optional) Would you like a kit to continue the fun at home after class?

Select the "Class Registration & Pyrography Kit Bundle" option (+$26) and you will take home from class a kit with everything you need to continue the burning fun. Purchasing the bundle offers a 20% discount on the kit compared to buying it outside of the class session! The kit includes the wood burning tool with four different tips, small wood piece for practicing, sandpaper, and three wooden cooking tools (spoon, fork, and spatula) to create more functional art you can use everyday.

Callie McAuliffe is a native Portlander who found her love of arts and crafts at an early age. After briefly experimenting with many mediums such as acrylic painting, block printing, and watercolors, she finally found her favorite creative outlets. She has been teaching classes since 2018, and when not teaching arts and crafts, she is teaching students life skills as a school counselor.
